BIOGRAPHY
Pavida Wachirapanyaporn (b. 1993) is a Thai choreographer, dancer, and writer working across live performance, film, and interdisciplinary practice.
Her work treats the body as a living archive, where cultural memory, training, and lived experience are carried, brought into tension, and transformed through contemporary contexts.
She learned basic Thai dance as a child before training in Western dance at Srinakharinwirot University, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2016.
From 2016 to 2020, she worked as a core dancer with Pichet Klunchun Dance Company, performing in Thailand and internationally.
Her performance experience includes works presented at TPAM in Yokohama, Asia TOPA in Melbourne, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre in Taiwan, and George Town Festival in Penang,
as well as Jérôme Bel’s GALA in Bangkok. Working with a company whose practice draws on khon, a Thai classical masked dance form, while bringing her own background in Western dance,
became an important starting point for her ongoing questions about cultural memory and embodied knowledge.Since 2020, Pavida has developed an independent practice through choreography,
performance, dance film, and writing.
Her works include DARK HORSE (2023), Haunted House (2024), and UNBOUND (2025). Her writing includes I Am The Haunted House, published through the Chai Dai Zine
Project with support from City University of Hong Kong in 2025, and Choreographing Belief, a field-based research and writing project supported by a deCentral Travel Grant for
Writers in 2026. As a performer, she has worked with B-Floor Theatre in Thailand and visiting companies including WSH Visual Theatre (Finland), Stopgap Dance Company (UK),
and Imagina (Barcelona).
In 2026, Pavida was selected for the Dance Now Asia Independent Showcase in Taipei. She also participated in the Co-Learning and Co-Creation Program
at Weiwuying National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts and was selected for NCCT Camping and the Thailand Choreography Symposium, organized by the
National Choreography Centre of Thailand.
Alongside her artistic practice, she works as a guest lecturer at Chulalongkorn University, the School of Architecture and Design at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi,
and Srinakharinwirot University. Her current practice asks how cultural traditions and memories continue to live in bodies shaped by different experiences.
